Butterflies

In year 2 we have been looking at the life cycle of a butterfly.

 

We waited excitedly as our caterpillars grew and grew and finally went into their chrysalises.

Queen Street Mill Visit - 17th March

Year 2 had a great day at Queen Street Mill learning all about life in the past.

We learnt about how steam drove the machinery, and how to weave. We visited a 'Victorian classroom' ( with a very strict teacher!) and ended the day with a visit to the weaving shed to see and listen to see a loom…

Fireman Visit

On Thursday  the Fire Service paid a visit to school to talk to class 2JK about fire safety.

The children were taught about the dangers of playing with matches and then what to do in case of a fire.

Iman Visit

We had a special visitor in year two this afternoon - Amjad (a local Iman) came to give an interesting and informative talk about his Muslim faith.

Growing plants

We've planted lots of things on our Y1 allotment this year including beans, potatoes, radishes, cabbages and squash plants. Minibeast Hunt

Year 2 had a fantastic afternoon this week being scientists and wildlife photographers.

Dinosaurs!

Year 1 visited the Manchester Museum and became dinosaur explorers for the day. It was amazing to touch a real fossilised T-Rex egg, a T-Rex jawbone and foot, and a triceratops' horn! We all had great fun exploring the museum and came away with some great memories.

Mosque Visit

On Thursday 7th November Year 2 visited the Mosque on Fishergate Hill.

The Imam from the Mosque showed us around and gave an interesting talk on the Muslim Religion and way of life.

Fire Service visit Year 2

Year 2 were visited by Lancashire Fire Service on Wednesday morning to talk about fire safety. They were treated to a short film explaining how to keep safe in an emergency and then had a great time role playing a rescue situation.
