Mrs Foster’s News

And we have reached the end of 2017 and Mrs Foster’s final news before we finish for the holidays!

Firstly, what an amazing week last week, both in and out of school.  The Christmas productions and carol services have been excellent this year and it has been lovely to see all our families at the various events which culminated with our Jubilee Ministries Carol Service with Years 3 and 4 on Sunday (and also some wrapping up of dads…photos will be appearing soon Mr Rash and Mr Allison!)

Well done to everyone involved in the Christmas events last week – I was so, so proud of all our children.

Thank you to all of you who bought raffle tickets for the luxury hampers.  We raised an amazing £576.84 from the raffle and combined with the money raised through the Friends of Whitefield Secrets Room, we have made £1418.13 which means we will also receive the full £1000 match funding from Barclays Bank.  This is so amazing – we’ll let you know about our thoughts on spending after the holidays.

This week has started with our whole school Christmas dinner yesterday – just short of 400 meals served to the children by the staff.  Lots of cries of ‘this is the best Christmas dinner ever’ from the children! Although Liam in Y6 did say his mums was better (good response Liam!).

Today we had a magical visit from Santa and the music has just started for the Reception, Y1 and Y2 parties, with Y3-6 having theirs tomorrow.  (HUGE apologies for the communication problem regarding food and dressing up all day or bringing in a bag!  This is all my fault as I have been sticking my nose in to the year group party organisation!  We’ll have it sorted next year when it will all be as clear as custard…)

The donations we received in school for the Salvation Army were overwhelming and we cannot thank you all enough for your kind response to the school council’s appeal.  The man from the SA came to pick up all the gifts in the tiniest of cars and left crammed in behind the wheel!

Don’t forget – the dates for your diary for the coming Spring Term were emailed a couple of weeks ago and are on the school website and school Facebook page.

And remember, we finish school on THURSDAY THIS WEEK at 3.30.

The Foster house has a quiet family Christmas planned, with the exception of Boxing Day - I have three sisters, all with families of their own and Boxing Day is the whole family day.  It usually descends in to chaos especially if our mother has some martini and lemonade and someone gets the new party games out.  What will it be this year after last year’s Say It Don’t Spray It and Pie Face?!

Have a wonderful holiday, whatever you are doing and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year – school returns on Thursday 4th January.
