Sports for Schools – Olympic Day 29.4.16

Whitefield is very excited to be welcoming GB wheelchair rugby player, Stuart Robinson to the school on Friday 29th April 2016.  Stuart was a Royal Air Force Regiment Force Protection multiple commander from 1999 until 2013.  Injured in Afghanistan in 2013, Stuart had to have both legs amputated.  Since then, Stuart turned to wheelchair rugby and competed in the Invictus Games in 2014.

Stuart will be leading a sponsored fitness circuit with all pupils, followed by an inspirational talk and ‘question and answer’ session.  The aim of the event is to inspire the pupils to take up sport generally, but just as importantly to encourage them to discover and then pursue their passion in life despite obstacles that can be put in their path along the way.

A sponsorship form for your child has been sent out today in order to help raise money for this event.  You can also sponsor your child by following the link:

As the sponsorship form and online sponsorship page explains, much of the money that is raised will be used to buy sports equipment for the school, while also supporting GB athletes (including Paralympics athletes) and children's charities.

Please ensure that sponsorship forms and moneys are returned to the school office on or before Friday 6th May at the latest.

The event will be held from 9.00am – 12.00pm on Friday 29th April 2016.  Kindly make sure that your child/children have their PE kits in school on this day.

Thank you in anticipation for creating what we are sure will be a terrific and memorable event.
