ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS TO WHITEFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Is your child starting school in Reception?
As a community school, all our admissions are arranged by Lancashire County Council.
The admission criteria for Whitefield Primary School, as set by Lancashire County Council -
When a school is oversubscribed on parental preferences, the following priorities apply in order:
1. Looked after children and those who have been previously looked after, then
2. Children for whom the Local Authority accepts that there are exceptional medical, social or welfare reasons which are directly relevant to the school concerned, then
3. Children with older brothers and sisters attending the school when the younger child will start, then
4. Remaining places are allocated according to where the child lives. Those living nearest to the preferred school by a straight line (radial) measure will have priority.
If the Local Authority is unable to distinguish between applicants using published criteria (eg twins or same block of flats) places will be offered via a random draw.

Some children go to All Hallows Catholic High School. In the past, due to location, some children attend Lostock Hall Academy or Tarleton High School.

Is your child already at another school and you wish to transfer them to Whitefield? These are called In-Year Admissions.
All admissions that take place throughout the school year are managed by Lancashire Admissions Team.
We do recommend that you contact school to arrange a tour of our school for you and your child. We must all be confident that Whitefield is the right place for you and your child.
In Years Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, our pupil numbers are 60 (30 per class) - we are unable to increase these numbers past 30 per class).
In Years 3-6 our intake is 60 children per year, however due to the size of our classrooms we do have the capacity to admit more than 60 providing we are fully able to meet any needs the child may have.
If you wish to move your child, Lancashire Pupil Admissions Team will provide you with the necessary information. School also has its own admission paperwork in line with our in-year admissions procedures. We advise you speak to the Headteacher of your child's current school and ensure they are kept in the loop regarding your decisions.
