It is that time of year where I am having a clothing dilemma - are we spring sunshine with our toes on show or are we still boots and leggings? The children were in for a treat as they were able to play on the field for 5 days and even brought in their sun cream, but the rain yesterday and today has put paid to the field for a while! Make sure the children still have their coats in school every day though, as we do still go out for our breaks in the rain!
Talking of sunshine - clarification on our sports days in June:
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are Tuesday 16th June, 2pm
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are Wednesday 17th June, 2pm.
I think there may have been an incorrect date on one of the year group newsletters, so please make sure the dates above are in your diary.
Another date for your diary: Penwortham Gala on Saturday 13th June. We have a small lorry for the procession and will be having a walking party behind. Futher details will be coming soon on how you can join us for the procession but in the mean time, we need some extra creative hands to help us with out theme - Victory in Europe. Ms Garry will be sending out some ideas for costumes and dates for the 'stay and create' sessions so that we are all sorted for the day!
We have had a number of children turning up at school at 8.30am recently. They seem to be older children who have walked to school on their own. Please note that the children are not supervised until the doors open at 8.50am. We have also been having discussions about football on the playgrounds in the morning - children are not allowed to play football before school, or ride their bikes or scooters on the playground as there are a number of younger pre-school aged children and mums and prams, especially on the infant payground and we do not want any accidents.
You will have received the email last week informing you of our victory in the South Ribble cluster finals! We need to buy another trophy cabinet at this rate! Well done to all the team.
We are on a roll at the moment as today we WON THE TAG RUGBY FINALS! We will now be going to Stanley Park for the Lancashire School Games on Tuesday 30th June. Well done to all the team and to Miss Nuttall for being an amazing coach! She is certainly giving Mr Huntington a run for his money!! And what an amazing trophy too. Photos will be on the website very soon.
Well done to all the Year 6 children who managed to get up on the last two Saturdays for their SATurday school. HUGE thanks go to the catering team of Mrs Mole and Mrs Robson who were joined by our cook Paula on the first day and our vice-chair Simon and Den on the 2nd day. They did a brilliant job. And massive thanks to all the teachers who came in to work with the children. As a treat, they can all have a 3 day weekend this weekend....
Don't forget it is Bank Holiday on Monday (fingers crossed for sunshine) and we are closed on Thursday for the general election.
