19 November 2015

There is a lot of news today so keep reading to the end!  Mr and Mrs Lever – you may need to provide a pudding tonight to get through all this news!!

Firstly, our official Whitefield Facebook page has been published today and I have sent a letter to you via email to let you know what you should be seeing on the page. Please hunt us out and have a look at our first couple of posts! (Copy of letter attached in case you have not received it. Please click here.)

You will also be receiving a letter today about our Christmas lunch in school – children can book a lunch on that day if they normally have packed lunches and even those who have packed lunches will be in the hall enjoying the festivities (and the teachers dressed up in silly hats!).

Don’t forget it’s parent's evening next week – slips are coming out tonight in your child’s bag showing the date and time of your appointment.  Please contact school if you are unable to attend and another appointment will be made for you.

On Friday 27th November it is the Christmas Market event at the Brown Hare pub – our choir will be singing from 5pm and there will be stalls, hotdogs and burgers on sale. If you wish to eat in the pub, please ensure you call them and book a table as they are going to be very busy! There’s even a Robbie Williams tribute act performing!

Thank you to all of you who donated to our Children in Need collection. Wearing what you wanted and bringing in your bears raised £360 for the charity. Good job everyone!

And continuing on that theme, you have all showed your generosity again by donated advent calendars to the Penwortham Food Bank – we have over 200 calendars being collected tomorrow. What an amazing achievement! We managed to get a pile of calendars taller than Mr Huntington and even taller than the 6ft 7in Chair of Governors Mr Walker!

Someone who has been extremely generous to us in school is Keira’s dad Mr Jackson, who has donated 600 daffodil bulbs for school. Thanks so much to you and Langholme Landscapes for this lovely gift! Mrs Bushell and Mrs Jackson have done a brilliant job planting the bulbs with the children on the hill to the left hand side of the main entrance and I can’t wait for them to bloom next spring.

And finally, a message from Mrs Allan to all of you following another successful book fair in school:

A big thank you to all those families who supported the book fair last week.  It was a great success, with school able to choose many new books as part of the commission earned from the book fair sales.

A big thank you to those families who kindly bought a book from the classroom wish lists. These books will be presented in assembly on Monday to each class.

A special thank you to those parents who gave up their time to help run the book fair. Without this help such events would not be possible.
