Mrs Foster’s First News of the Year!

Welcome back everyone!  I hope you all managed some kind of rest and relaxation over the summer period.  We had some great UK weather didn’t we?  How lovely to start the term off with some wet playtimes!

A warm welcome to our new families who join our amazing Whitefield family.

Our new reception children have started coming in and we’re half way to a full house as of today.  Everyone will be in by Thursday next week and the children will meet their Year 6 buddies on Friday next week. (More information about that to parents next week).

And welcome to the new families who have started with us in other year groups too.

We also welcome our new staff – Mrs Molloy in the school office; our teaching assistant apprentices Mr Gray in Year 2 and Mrs Maxfield in Year 1; our new teaching assistant in Year 1 Mrs Dunlop; Mrs Tabord our Year 6 teacher; Miss Batey our Year 4 teacher and our new welfare staff member Mrs Campbell.  Phew!

And as some of you have seen on the Facebook post this week, Mrs Anforth had an accident over the summer and is recuperating so you will also see Mrs Gohil and Mrs Garry in the office.

On that note, thank you to everyone for being so patient during this week – our internet was down, then our internet was slow, we ran out of bread, we didn’t get our fruit order…it’s been one of those weeks!  But thank you for greeting us with smiles!

BABY NEWS – Mr Jackson and his wife Roisin welcomed Ivy Cara on 18th August.  She’s a beauty!  Congratulations to the Jackson family.

Mrs Huxtable is with us for a couple more weeks and Baby Hux is due at the end of this month.

And Mr Keogh is getting married!  He finally asked Hayley and she said yes!

Dates for the coming year were sent out at the end of term and another copy is out this week too.

New dates added are the ‘Meet the Classroom’ dates:

An opportunity for you to come and see where your child lives and put a face to your child’s teacher!

This is an informal session and will not include any presentations.  Additional information will be available to you in paper form on the afternoon regarding readings, maths etc.

If you wish to have a longer conversation with your child’s class teacher, please speak to the school office to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Year group newsletter will be coming home next week.

MONDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER, 3.40-4PM - YEAR 1
TUESDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER 3.40-4PM - YEAR 4
WEDNESDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 3.40-4PM - YEAR 5
THURSDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 3.40-4PM - YEAR 2
MONDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 3.40-4PM - YEAR 6
TUESDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 3.40-4PM - YEAR 3

A few other things to note:

Remember to label all your child’s uniform items including PE kit – and a HUGE thank you for the advice on Facebook regarding labelling uniform!  I had done the iron-on labels for the first time this year and they are already falling off.

We continue to run our very successful playgroup in school on Friday afternoons from 2pm until 3.15pm.  All are welcome, with children from birth to the age of four.  It’s a lovely informal group where you can relax, have a brew and a biscuit, meet new people and get advice from others.  June and Val will be here every week to help so please just come along, no booking necessary.

Don’t forget – we open school doors at 8.50am and learning starts at 9am prompt.  Please ensure you are on time.

Have a great weekend everyone. I am starting the 47th birthday celebrations early (it’s not for a couple of weeks yet) with a film and meal night with my sisters on Saturday and then I have to tackle high school homework with Milly…
