I have had a traumatic week. The weather has sent me in to a complete fashion spin, as many of you will know from my moaning on the playground. Hottest day of the year and I wear leggings and boots; pouring with rain and I am in summer trousers and short sleeved tops. Fingers crossed for some stable weather conditions in the coming weeks!
Sports Day - We need the weather to sort itself out ready for our sports days. Remember we are having the two sports days on two different days this year so if it is slightly damp in the morning, we will have time for the field to dry ready for the afternoon. Reception, Year 1 and 2 is on Tuesday 17th June at 2pm and Years 3,4,5 and 6 is on Wednesday 18th June at 2pm. If it is raining that week, we have put in the diary for the following Tuesday and Wednesday.
WRIST Celebration of Friendship - this annual event where our South Ribble cluster of 18 schools get together for an evening and dance and music is on Tuesday 17th June at 7pm at the Guild Hall. Tickets are available from the school office at £6 for adults and £3 for children. Please come along and join us in what is a truely brilliant event.
I was talking to one of you this week about trying to get our children to tidy their rooms! Tomorrow in assembly, I will be telling the children about one of our Grandmas who is currently in Liberia setting up a new school. Harry McDermott's Grandma, Anni is raising money and resources for the new school and both Harry and I thought over half term, our children could have a room clean up and donate any resources they think would be beneficial for the new school - books, toys, etc. We will let you know more information about collections after half term and we are looking forward to Anni coming in to school in July to talk to the children about her trip.
Wednesday night was our Reception induction evening for our 2014 September intake. It was a brilliant evening and we got to meet our new children and families old and new!
On Saturday, I attended the Lancashire Governing Body Conference at Woodlands, Chorley with Mike Walker, our Chair of Goevrnors and Tony WIlson who is one of our parent governors. It was a really good event, made even more special when Mike received an award for his outstanding contribution to our governing body! Check out his picture on the school website! We are very proud of him and proud that he is part of our fantastic school. Well done Mike!
Articles to catch up on via the school website:
Members of the Year 6 FBA club went to St Maria Goretti on Wednesday to meet the author of one of the FBA books.
Please check out the childrens area on the school website to view articles and photos of learning and events within school!
Coming soon to the school website: our four Y5 school council representatives were at Penwortham Golf Club yesterday for the annual WRIST School Council Conference. They learnt about outdoor water safety and e-safety and will be reporting and teaching the children the messages they learnt over the next half term.
Happy Holidays to everyone. Remember we are closed for two weeks, and re-open on Monday 9th June. The Fosters are off for a pre-summer run in the van up to the Lakes for a few days. Yes Owen - it is Lowther! Have a great fortnight everyone.
