This morning saw us waking to bright sunshine, and after cereal, bacon, beans, eggs and hash browns, everyone split into groups for a variety of activities.
Much mud was found in Aitken Wood during orienteering, balloons were popped in the archery, abseiling was conducted during a hail storm, high ropes were conquered and canoes manoeuvred. With the exception of one downpour, generally the sun shone.
Miss Woodworth and Miss Ashcroft joined us for tea (the food is proving very popular - seconds were eagerly anticipated, and not just by Mr Walker) and we then embarked on evening activities. Indoor caving, climbing, mr men orienteering and Mr Phillips legendary quiz were enjoyed despite a brief interruption by rain.
Some of the children have finally found time/been persuaded to have a shower, and we're now looking forward to another busy day.
We will try and keep you posted but the signal is poor...

We've arrived at Whitehough! It has been sunny....for about 5 minutes so far and has rained ever since. Fortunately the 5 minutes of sunshine allowed us to get up suitcase hill without getting drowned. Those suitcases did look heavy though. The kitchen sink actually fell out of one of them!
We have now been issued with kit and made the beds. You never knew how challenging putting a duvet cover on could be! (Several of the boys had the duvet orientated transverse to the cover and wondered why it felt 'a bit lumpy') We have now had lunch and are being assigned jobs.
Problem solving this afternoon...in the rain....hmmmm
Well....we started solving problems and the sun came out. Rocket fuel was saved, cones attacked, a helicopter signal tower built and a perimeter wall scaled. It only started raining as we sat down to count our dollars!
A lovely meal was had, by us, of chicken and mushroom pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. Lots of clean plates and bowls. A lovely meal was then had, of US, by the midges as we went for a 3 mile hike. The rain stayed off and we had a great time. No scary cows this year!
Shortcake and hot choc was for supper and now to bed. What adventures await tomorrow....?
