20 November 2014
I start with sickness news - there seems to be a bug doing the rounds as is the norm at this time of year. I myself was struck down at the beginning of the week. I even went off my food which was a feeling I don't think I have ever had...We have reminded the children about regular handwashing and covering mouths when coughing, sneezing etc and we would be grateful if you could also reinforce this at home.
The Christmas newsletter should have landed with you all this week. It's full of information about the events and activities in school as we head towards Christmas. Please ensure you read a copy and that you return your slips for nativities and carol services asap.
Children in Need Day was fantastic and thanks must be given to all of you who raised £344.62. What an amazing achievement!
I must also give thanks to all our families and friends for the your generosity over the year with our Friends of Whitefield events. As a result, we are able to enhance our curriculum with 14 new iPads, new football nets for playtimes and external seating for class work, quiet time at play and for parents to sit as they wait for thier children! All have been ordered today and we will be sending you a FoW newsletter in the new year showing off all our purchases.
Book Fair last week was a great success. Huge thanks to Mrs Allan who organises this week and she has sent this message:
'We would like to thank everyone who visited the book fair last week. Once again our sales were very good, with school receiving many new books earned from our commission. Many thanks to the families who kindly donated a book to school. These will be given out in assembly on Friday. Finally a big thank you to those parents who gave their time to help at the book fair, your support was greatly appreciated.'
Our anti-bullying week this week has been brilliant, and today and tomorrow the children have been showing others the work they have been doing over the week. Some of the poems I heard today were just stunning, and we will be publishing some of them on our website.
