I can’t quite believe that we only have one more day of this term left and we are nearly in 2016!
Hasn’t the year flown by? And for those of you who have children in Reception – they have finished their first term in school and are doing so well! They will be in Year 6 before you know it!
A couple of fabulous things to note:
What a great week we had last week – 10 performances, a visit from the Mayor, lots of laughter, a few tears and some wonderful community Christmas spirit! Well done to all the children and thank you so much to all of you for coming and supporting us all last week.
Congratulations if you were a ‘Mrs Foster’s Luxury hamper’ prize winner! A couple of things to note on this:
We raised over £700 from the sale of raffle tickets for the hampers. There was no getting past our Y6 and 5 ticket sellers! Some of you bought a lot of ticket strips as you were at many a production! Your generosity is amazing and as such we have been able to donate £100 to St Mary’s Church for the upkeep of the building as well as over £300 to both the RSPCA and Diabetes UK (these charities have been chosen by the school council to support through our fundraising this year).
Thank you to Karen Mellis from The Perfume Shop for donating some additional perfume raffle prizes. If you need any perfume for Christmastime or afterwards, get yourself to The Perfume Shop!
And finally on the subject of raffles – Gemma Webster – you are banned next year!!
Our toddlers and babies had a wonderful time on Friday afternoon at the Whitefield Playgroup Christmas Party (I was so sad to miss it guys!) – there are photos on our Facebook page so check them out. Log on to Facebook and search for Whitefieldprimaryofficial.
Santa even took time out from his hectic schedule to come and see us at playgroup and also to deliver some extra gifts to all the year groups.
This week has been full of Christmas parties and end of term parties. The keyboard players were amazing in assembly on Monday – I can’t play the piano so was in awe of their talent.
And we said our official goodbye to Ms Clough, our ex-Deputy Headteacher on Tuesday who came in for a special assembly. She loved being back, if just for an hour and had to rush back to Moor Nook for her school Christmas lunch and an afternoon Christmas performance.
Exciting news coming to our school in January – we have a Slimming World class opening its doors at our school every Thursday evening. Classes start on Thursday 31st December at 5pm and will run every Thursday after that at 7.30pm in the school hall. I have flyers in school if you are interested and/or you can call the group leader Maria on 07821685385.
Christmas for me is about family time and having those much missed movie nights, going for walks (or scooters if Santa does a good job) and we have even managed a couple of nights in our favourite hotel in Bowness too (a hotel rather than a caravan!). I hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable two weeks.
I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
Back in school on Monday 4th January 2016!
